MOYA BRENNAN - New album

Canvas
Release date: February 24th 2017

In February 2017 Moya Brennan will release her first solo album in 10 years.

Moya, renowned as the lead singer of Clannad and often called the ‘First Lady of Celtic Music’, is currently putting the final touches to what will be her 9th solo project. In recent years she has spent much time with the re-emergence of her family band, Clannad and also working closely with harp virtuoso, Cormac De Barra, on their Voices & Harps collaboration.
Moya has just completed the soundtrack to a 26 episode TV animation series, Prisoner Zero, for ABC TV in Australia. The soundtrack will be available internationally from the end of 2016.

Having said farewell to her father Leo who passed away in June and then having endured the tragic death of fellow Clannad member (and uncle) Padraig Duggan in August she is keen to put the sadness of 2016 behind her. So it is with renewed spirit and enthusiasm that she approaches a new release in 2017

Moya’s new album, to be titled Canvas, marks a return to her contemporary Celtic style - combining her hallmark, atmospheric vocal harmonies with new rhythms and instrumentation.
But what will make this new album so different is that, for the first time, she is working in the studio with her immediate family. Daughter, Aisling, who is already an accomplished Sound Engineer, Producer and singer-songwriter in her own right is joined by son, Paul, who has applied his electronica skills to Moya’s album with exciting effect.

Moya will tour the album in Spring 2017 (Germany, Holland, Poland, UK). Irish dates will be announced shortly.

There will be a Press launch for the album on Feb 8 in The Black Door, 58 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2. Advance copies of physical CDs will be available then. Details and invitations to follow.

Moya is available for interviews immediately for long lead-ins for February/March editions/media episodes.
Otherwise media requests sought for mid-Jan through to mid-Feb.
