BAGATELLE One For The Road Tour

Thursday 16 March 2017 - Start of St. Patrick’s Day Weekend
Ballymaloe Grainstore, Shanagarry, Co. Cork

Get the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend off to a rousing start with Bagatelle who return to Ballymaloe Grainstore after their sold-out concert in 2016. The legendary Irish band bring their One For The Road Tour to Shanagarry on Thursday 16 March at 8pm.

Bagatelle completed their Final Year Tour on Valentine’s Weekend of last year after sold out gigs all across Ireland including Vicar Street Dublin, INEC Killarney, and, of course, the Grainstore. 2016 saw them receive incredible recognition such as a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sunday World Entertainment Awards.

And then, only a few months into retirement , Bagatelle bowed to the overwhelming response from their loyal audiences , and, it must be admitted, to pressure from their record company. Liam Reilly and colleagues decided that they would not stop completely, as planned, but instead would play occasional gigs called One For The Road.

Bagatelle can look back with pride on decades of achievement including six No. 1 singles and multi-platinum album sales. Their massive hit, Summer in Dublin, was voted No. 3 ‘Best Irish Song’ and has made the Irish charts almost every summer since its release in 1980. Second Violin and Leeson Street Lady also continue to get airplay.

The band has shared stages with U2, who have called them both an inspiration and an influence, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy, John Denver, Jose Feliciano, Sting, Boomtown Rats, and many more. They’ve toured world-wide to the U.S., China, Saudi Arabia, and all over Europe.

The NYPD (New York Police Department) recently honoured pianist Liam Reilly by adopting his song, Streets of New York, as their official anthem. Another of Liam’s songs, Flights of Earls, was voted one of Ireland’s Top 10 ‘Best Ever Irish Emigrations Songs’.

The band have worked with prestigious producers such as Phil Coulter, Gus Dudgeon, Steve Lilywhite, Nick Graham, and John Etchells.

Tickets are €30 and can be booked on www.ballymaloegrainstore.com or by phone on 021-465 2531.
