Masters of Tradition

August 23rd – 27th, 2017

The Masters of Tradition runs from Wednesday 23rd to Sunday 27th August. Now in its 15th year, it’s the festival which celebrates traditional music in its purest form.

Artistic Director Martin Hayes, the renowned fiddler from County Clare, will once again open and close this year’s Masters of Tradition. Among the first names to be announced are guitar player Dennis Cahill and concertina players Noel Hill, Cormac Begley and Jack Talty. The full line-up will be announced in the coming months

Performances take place in Bantry House, one of Ireland’s finest historical mansions, and in one of Bantry’s other special venues, St Brendan’s Church. Masters of Tradition provides a platform where subtle and sometimes obscure elements of Irish traditional music can be heard. By seeking the heart of the music we find a universal voice that has widespread appeal reaching across many cultural and musical barriers.

Masters of Tradition is generously supported by the Arts Council, Cork County Council, Failte Ireland, RTÉ lyric fm, Ireland Funds and Bord na Móna
