Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office

Musicians-in-Residence Scheme 2018
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Music Network is pleased to announce details of the 2018 Musicians-in-Residence Scheme. The scheme is jointly funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Arts Council, and is managed by Music Network. Three residencies are offered in 2018: two for established musicians/groups and one for an emerging musician/group.
The aim of the Musicians-in-Residence Scheme is to provide opportunities to develop and showcase new work which may be compositional and/or performance focused, i.e. to create a new work/body of material and/or to develop a new artistic collaboration. Throughout each residency, the cultural environment of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown will be enriched through engagement by the musicians with a broad demographic via presentation of a series of performances in the dlr LexIcon Studio and Library. The wider community will have an opportunity to gain an intriguing insight into the creative process through a regular online video diary created by each musician – a series of recordings where they talk about their progress throughout the residencies.

Speaking about the scheme Kenneth Redmond, dlr Arts Officer and Sharon Rollston, Music Network CEO commented:

“We are delighted to be working together on the Musicians-in-Residence Scheme and look forward to supporting musicians’ career development, particularly through the mentorship provided. The scheme is a wonderful opportunity for musicians to create and showcase new work and brings more quality live music performances to audiences in the locality”.
