Féile Chnoc na Gaoithe, Tulla Traditional Music Festival

The 7th Annual Féile Chnoc na Gaoithe, Tulla Traditional Music Festival will take place on the weekend 11th to 13th May with a fantastic line up of top class performers over the three days.

The multi-talented fiddle-player and flute player Frankie Gavin heads the stellar line up of performers. Frankie, from Co. Galway is this year’s recipient of the Gradam Ceoil TG4 2018 (Traditional Music Awards ), he has been prominent on the national scene for over forty years, first making headlines as founder member of the acclaimed group De Dannan. Frankie will be joined in concert by legendary Co. Clare concertina player Noel Hill who featured in on TG4 documentary Aisling Ghéar on Wednesday night. Brian McGrath, piano and banjo maestro from Co. Fermanagh will complete the trio in concert in Tulla Courthouse on Saturday 12th May at 8pm.

We are also delighted to present Cormac Begley and Rushad Eggleston in a lunch time concert on Saturday at 2pm in Cnoc na Gaoithe. This exciting duet is not to be missed, you can see them in action in the intimate setting of the Oratory at Cnoc na Gaoithe, on Saturday 12th May at 2pm. Seating is limited to 50 for this event.

Cormac is a bass, baritone, treble and piccolo concertina player from a very well know West-Kerry musical family. He is founder of the Tunes in the Church live concert series in Galway and Dublin, his debut solo album, released in May 2017, has received critical acclaim amassing seven 5 star reviews.

Rushad Eggleston from California, has changed the way the Cello is played, he is a fearless improvisational cellist, captivating performer and hilarious entertainer. If you haven’t seen him in action before, do not miss this opportunity! He often wears bizarre and eclectic costume on stage, ranging from elf hats paired with shiny leggings, to full-length, pink, fuzzy jackets. He has been known to hop around the stage with his cello strapped onto himself. He is an extremely gifted musician and accompanist, playing several instruments. Rushad will host a workshop in accompaniment on Saturday at 10am in Cnoc na Gaoithe, students of cello, mandolin, guitar and bouzouki will have a very rare opportunity to avail of a work shop with this musical genius.

Master Classes and Workshops.

Frankie Gavin and Noel Hill will provide master classes in their respective instruments on Saturday at 3pm. Fiddle master class is already fully booked, while there are a few more spaces in the concertina master class with Noel Hill.

A full three days of events are planned with music and singing sessions in all of the pubs, C.D. Launches, workshops, and an open air céilí with the Tulla Céilí Band on Sunday.
