Live Concert from Connemara for National Music Day

Friday 21 June RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will be marking Love:Live Music 2013 with a concert broadcast live from Carna in Connemara, celebrating the musicians, singers, dancers and poets of this rich cultural pocket of the country.
Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha, Music Editor at RnaG, will present the concert featuring more than 20 musical acts including the talented Hernon family – Marcus, Proinsias, Breandán and Labhrás; Piper and former TG4 Musician of the Year Seán McKiernan; singers Josie Sheáin Jeaic Mac Donnchadha and NUIG Singer in Residence Joe John Mac Con Iomaire; dancers the Ó Dubháin brothers; and local poets Seosamh Ó Guairim and Jackie Mac Donncha.

Fantastic Fleadh Cheoil for Derry

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in Derry will officially launch the full programme for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2013 and fleadhcheoil.ie this Thursday 20th June at 7pm at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.
The official launch party will continue on Friday 21st June with a full day of music, song and dance in association with Music City, all promising enough energy to shake the City’s famous walls to their foundations.

Return to Camden Town Festival

The 15th Return to Camden Town Festival is due to take place on the last weekend in October and the first weekend in November. Each weekend has a slightly different focus, but sessions throughout The London Irish Centre (Camden Square) and local pubs will take place over both weekends, featuring many of the finest traditional Irish musicians around. On the first weekend – October 25th–27th (Bank Holiday weekend in Ireland) the main focus will be on music, with concerts, album launches, instrumental workshops, sessions galore and more. On the second weekend November 1st – 3rd the main focus will be on dancing and singing (with music never too far away). Set dancing events will include set and sean nós dancing workshops as well as céilís. Singing events will include concerts, singing sessions and workshops.

Celtic Colours International Festival recently announced its venues and communities line–up for 2013. Concerts this year will take place in 33 communities at 39 different venues. The process of choosing venues starts in January with a call for expressions of interest from local non–profit organizations. All applications are evaluated for suitability according to set criteria, and although some venues are selected year after year, all applications are evaluated each year.
