MUSIC GENERATION DEADLINE LOOMS

Music Generation is Ireland’s National Music Education Programme. It helps children and young people access music education in their own locality. Music Generation is funded by U2 and The Ireland Funds along with a range of local partners.

Music Generation provides funding and support to Music Education Partnerships throughout Ireland to develop local music education services. Funding can be up to a maximum value of ?200,00 spread over a 3 year period and contingent on the MEP supplying a matching 50% of funds.

The closing date for Round 3 applications to be returned is 5pm, Thursday, November 8th, 2012. Round 3 is the final open call for applications.

Another April Day For Bee For Battens

Irish musicians to raise the roof against global poverty

Traditional musicians all over Ireland are getting ready to raise the roof in a bid to fight global poverty.

The ‘Trad for Trócaire’ annual week kicks off on Thursday October 4th and this year the development organisation is hoping for a record 500 sessions to take place all over Ireland. Traditional music sessions will take place at various locations until Wednesday October 10th.

Seán Ó Riada gold medal: Calling Pipers and Harpists

The competition for the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal 2012 is now open to entries from harpists and pipers.  One winner will be chosen for each instrument, and will be presented with a Seán Ó Riada gold medal, and prize money, at a gala concert in Cork in January.  The closing date for entries is 31 October.

The Ward Irish Music Archives and Milwaukee Irish Fest will host an inaugural conference on Irish and Irish American music and entertainment October 18 to 20, 2012. Called “The Session!” it will combine panels on Irish traditional and popular music with video screenings and presentations from the Ward Irish Music Archives.  This unique event takes place in Milwaukee , Wis. at the Irish Fest Center, 1532 N. Wauwatosa Avenue in Milwaukee, Wis. and on the campus of Marquette University. The event is the first of its kind in North America.
