22nd FEAKLE TRADITIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 22nd Annual Feakle Festival will take place from Wednesday 5th August – Tuesday 11th. As per other years the festival will be action packed with many varied and interesting cultural events. It will commence on Wednesday 5th with a “Celebration of Dance” being the theme.

7th Annual Féile Frank Mc Gann for Strokestown

Despite the current economic gloom, expectations are high for Féile Frank Mc Gann 2009 which will be held in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon on October 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. An exciting line-up of artistes, workshops, recitals and other events is promised, with musicians and groups including legends Noel Hill & Tony Linnane, Sliabh Notes and the Tulla Ceili Band due to perform.

‘The Reel Deal’ is an upbeat traditional music series with a contemporary twist.  It is a lively, dynamic series for young people, featuring young performers and fronted by three engaging presenters. It is presented by Aoibhinn Ní Shuilleabhan, Brian O’Connell and Bláthnaid Ní Dhonnchadha, who all share an interest in, and passion for traditional music.

PAUL BRADY IS TRAVELLIN LIGHT BACK HOME TO TYRONE

Strule Arts Centre is delighted to announce Paul Brady will be performing one of only two Northern Irish tour dates in Strule on Sunday 24th May. His “Travelin’ Light” tour will be solo shows where Paul will be perfoming on guitar and piano for around 90 mins. Over the years, Paul’s intimate solo shows have thrilled audiences worldwide. Many fans feel that being in the company of the solo Brady on stage is the best way to experience his music. Expect to hear a bunch of new songs from his upcoming record plus loads of your favourites from the past. It’s been some years since Paul has toured solo in Ireland and over 10 years since he’s performed in Tyrone.

PRESIDENT MARY McALEESE LAUNCHES IMRO HEADQUARTERS

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) welcomed President of Ireland, Mary McAleese as honoured guest at the launch of their newly refurbished headquarters ‘Copyright House’ on Pembroke Row, Dublin 2. The reception was attended by over one hundred key figures in the Irish music industry including Paul Brady, Eleanor McEvoy, Johnny McEvoy and Brendan Graham, who gathered to celebrate IMRO’s twenty-year involvement in promoting and protecting the music of Ireland’s creative community.

A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC AT SIANSA GAEL LINN FINAL

The University Concert Hall, Limerick was full to capacity on Sunday, 26 April last when hundreds of teenagers, their supporters and families, gathered for a night that will long be remembered by all for it’s celebration of youth and music –the Siansa Gael Linn Grande Finale 2009 !
